Below, we will only introduce the commonly used NPO, X7R, Z5U, and Y5V in terms of their performance and application, as well as the ordering matters that should be noted in procurement to arouse everyone's attention. Different companies may have different naming methods for capacitors and resistors with different performance.
There are two ways to represent the size of chip capacitors, one is in inches and the other is in millimeters. The series models of chip capacitors include 0402, 0603, 0805, 1206, 1210, 1808, 1812, 2010, 2225, 2512, which are in inches. 04 represents a length of 0.04 inches, 02 represents a width of 0.02 inches, and other similar models have dimensions (mm)
The data for chip capacitors is generally divided into three types: NPO, X7R, and Y5V.
NPO: This material has the most stable electrical performance and does not change with temperature, voltage, and time. It is suitable for high-frequency circuits with low losses and stability requirements. The capacity accuracy is around 5%, but this material can only be used for smaller capacities. Conventional materials below 10OPF and 100PF-100OPF can also be consumed, but the price is relatively high;
X7R: This material has poor stability compared to NPO, but its capacity is higher than NPO's data, with a capacity accuracy of about 10%;
Y5V: Capacitors of this type of medium have poor stability, with a capacity bias of around 20% and are more sensitive to temperature and voltage. However, this material can achieve high capacity and is cheaper, making it suitable for circuits with little temperature change.
